Site Manager for Power Plant Projects Worldwide

Lead complex energy projects on-site – and help shape a more sustainable power industry.

BWSC is looking for a technically strong and people-oriented Site Manager to lead international power plant service and upgrade projects. In this role, you will combine technical expertise, leadership, and cultural awareness to deliver sustainable energy solutions in demanding on-site environments across the globe.

BWSC – Ever better energy!
Join us in our mission to build a world of sustainable energy and make a meaningful impact on power generation and energy conversion.

BWSC is a leading player in the power generation industry, specializing in service, operations, and maintenance of power plants. We work closely with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and customers worldwide to upgrade and optimize existing plants and develop future-proof energy solutions. Our commitment to excellence, safety, and environmental responsibility is at the core of everything we do.

The position
Due to significant growth in project sales, we are looking for a competent and responsible Site Manager with solid construction and installation knowledge and broad technical expertise.

You will work primarily with mechanical and/or electrical service, upgrade, and repair projects on power plants using biomass and conventional technologies, including diesel and boiler plants. Projects focus on improving efficiency, reliability, and availability while reducing emissions.

Projects are executed internationally, primarily in Scandinavia, the Caribbean, and Africa, and require close collaboration across cultures and disciplines. The role is primarily site-based, with BWSC’s headquarters in Allerød, Denmark, serving as the administrative and contractual base between assignments.

As Site Manager, you will take full responsibility for on-site execution and act as BWSC’s primary representative, leading activities and coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Take overall responsibility for the execution of site activities, ensuring delivery in accordance with project scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements
  • Act as BWSC’s primary on-site representative towards customers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage subcontractors and site resources to ensure efficient progress and effective execution
  • Monitor site performance and proactively identify, manage, and report risks, deviations, and delays to the Project Manager and Construction Department Manager
  • Ensure effective collaboration and coordination between site teams, Field Service, Project, and other BWSC functions
  • Take full leadership responsibility for site safety, ensuring that all activities comply with BWSC’s HSE requirements, local legislation, and best practice
  • Ensure that site personnel and subcontractors understand and adhere to safety rules, procedures, and safe working methods
  • Lead by example and promote a strong safety culture as an integral part of daily site management
  • Ensure compliance with BWSC’s Business Code of Conduct, policies, procedures, and applicable rules and regulations
  • Lead by example and ensure that BWSC’s core values are reflected in daily site management and collaboration

Travel and work patterns
This is a globally mobile, site-based role with a high degree of travel.

  • You should expect more than 200 travel days per year
  • Site assignments typically last from 3 to 12 months
  • After completing a site assignment, you will typically return to Denmark before starting the next project, although direct transitions between sites may occur
  • Time spent at the Allerød headquarters between projects is variable and depends on project timing and portfolio
  • Maximum time away from Denmark is governed by applicable working time regulations

This role is well suited for candidates who thrive in long-term on-site assignments and are motivated by working internationally for extended periods.

Qualifications
You have a technical education, e.g. Mechanical Engineer or Chief Engineer, and at least 5 years of relevant experience within the energy or power generation industry.

Additionally, you bring:

  • Proven managerial experience and ability to lead on-site teams
  • Strong coordination skills and the ability to ensure effective execution under complex conditions
  • High cultural awareness and adaptability in international environments
  • Strong customer focus and excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
  • A structured and quality-oriented mindset, with strong focus on safety and compliance
  • Eligibility to work within the EU
  • Fluency in English; Danish is an advantage
  • Relevant certificates such as CDM Course, Site Manager Safety Training Certificate, First Aid/CPR, and Fire Fighting are considered an advantage
  • User-level experience with Microsoft Office and IFS
