Shift Fuel Operative, Hooton, UK

What are we aiming for?

Are you able to demonstrate a track record of success within the waste management industry? Then you could be our next Shift Fuel Operative working with our Operations team on a 12-hour shift rotation in a large-scale advanced combustion technology Energy from Waste (EFW) gasification plant located near Eastham, on the Wirral Peninsula in Merseyside.

What will you be doing?

Reporting to the Shift Team Leader you will be responsible for undertaking all areas of waste fuel reception duties and other support as required by the Shift Team Leader.

Core duties:

  • Use of mobile plant including grab crane operation and supervision
  • Site traffic management to ensure safety of all colleagues and visitors to site
  • Supervision of the tipping hall
  • Fuel quality inspections
  • Plant housekeeping and cleaning where appropriate
  • Support the operations in any other duties necessary to support the ongoing efficiency of the site
  • Adhere to health, safety and environmental management policies and assist in the creation/development of appropriate site operations procedures, so they remain accurate, suitable and sufficient.
  • Provide support for all planned outages as required, which may require periods of ‘Day working’.

Adhere to all Company Policies & Procedures (including but not limited to) those specified in the Employment Handbook, H&S Policy, IMS System and any financial/accounting systems.

Whilst working as a Shift Fuel Operative at BWSC we offer a starting salary of £33,000 per annum with the opportunity for overtime, and a great total reward package including:

This role is a full-time role contracted for 40 hours per week, working a shift pattern based on a 4 on, 6 off (12hr days & nights) with long breaks and annual leave built in. 

Some occasional and ad-hoc national travel may be required.
