Plant Maintenance Assistant, Hooton, UK

What are we looking for?

Do you have a desire to work for a renewable energy provider? We are growing the team at our new build ‘Energy from Waste’ (EfW) plant located near Eastham, on the Wirral Peninsula in Merseyside, and this newly created role could be the challenge you are looking for.

What will you be doing?

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, working on a 40 hour per week contract, you will be responsible for ensuring overall general site duties are undertaken, including site stores control and management, along with general site operational and maintenance support.  These activities should be done whilst fostering an ethos of maximum plant reliability, flexibility, availability. 

Summary of key responsibilities:

  • To carry out day to day plant routines through full versatility and multi-tasking to achieve general plant duties.
  • Ensure day to day plant compliance with all HSE and site housekeeping standards.
  • To carry out preventative maintenance routines and assist with routine maintenance and operations as required.
  • Carry out day to day loading and off - loading of general site deliveries and ensuring a goods in and goods out programme is maintained.
  • Maintain, control and manage the site stores inventory including stock takes.
  • Liaise with site sponsors on all deliveries to ensure full appreciation is understood on each delivery and that addressee is informed and registers receipt.
  • Assist with maintenance team in responding to first line and breakdown maintenance requirements as far as background and experience permits and assisting maintenance functions in any such maintenance activity.
  • Participate in company/site HSE initiatives including the HSE forum activities.

Qualifications & Knowledge to succeed

  • ONC / C&G / NVQ level 3 in a process/engineering subject, with a high level of practical thermal/process plant operational experience (Qualifications below this may be acceptable if accompanied by suitable experience).
  • A good understanding of all HSE aspects is a fundamental requirement, with IOSH Managing Safely a preferred requirement.
  • Qualifications in the use of Counterbalance FLT and Grab Cranes.
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office suite and ideally previous CMMS and Nisoft Eclipse experience.
  • Self-motivated individual with exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills
  • High level of customer focus.
  • Willing to assume significant personal accountability.

This role is a full-time role contracted for 40 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.
