What are we aiming for?
Do you have a high level of operational experience and or knowledge in power generation? Do you have high standards towards QHSE with associated NEBOSH qualifications? Do you have demonstrative experience managing people and teams? Then you might be our new Operations Manager to join our team at our Templeborough Biomass power plant.
What will you be doing?
Reporting to the Plant Manager, you'll be responsible for the management and development of the Operation and Fuel Handling teams to ensure safe generation and environmental performance of the plant.
You will be a key member of the site management team in a fast moving and dynamic installation delivering on contractual obligations to the client in relation to plant operations and strategic objectives.
Summary of key responsibilities:
The Operations Manager is to ensure that the power plant operates in the safest and most cost-effective manner, maximising profit while taking into account the lifetime of the plant and the operation period. Likewise, you are responsible, alongside the Maintenance Manager for optimising the production and planning in order for the facility to be operated in an economical, safe, and reliable way, meeting load demands and contractual obligations concerning availability.
Qualifications to succeed
A strong background within power operations combined with engineering qualifications at HND level or above is a requirement for this role. Proven experience in the Power Industry in a managerial role, preferably with experience from the biomass or EFW sector.
You work seamlessly with MS Office with advanced ability with Microsoft Excel. In addition, you should have previous demonstrable experience of competence with finance, budgeting, contract management and cost control at a management level.
You understand how to put your knowledge of and experience with UK safety legislation and environmental permits, and with ISO9001/14001/45001 and their application.
You are able to confidently engage with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally to foster a ‘one team’ ethos.

Some occasional and ad-hoc national travel may be required.
