Your role

As a Buyer, you will help lead the way in procuring corporate service contracts and projects across the group. In a joint effort with your team of 4 skilled professional buyers, you will play a vital role in supporting our Procurement Cycle. Together with the team, you will be responsible for the delivery of procurement activities that maximize business opportunities and procurement strategies across the BWSC portfolio – and in the end enabling electricity to reach citizens around the world. 

You will identify parts sales opportunities for growth whilst building solid relationships with key customers and partners, ensuring the business aligns with procurement processes. Your ability to influence will be crucial in maintaining and supporting the work that the team has accomplished. 

 

What will you be doing?

This position will enable you to partner with multiple business units and work with a variety of stakeholders on Director level. The role will play a key part in the procurement of commonly identified direct and indirect goods and services with contracts largely focusing on professional services. The role will be expected to lead full lifecycle procurement projects, supporting key stakeholders through all stages of end-to-end group procurement process. This will commence from opportunity identification, through supplier negotiation and contract drafting/signature.

Furthermore, the jobholder will use IFS, Novacura, Power-Bi, Excel, PowerPoint to create MI and reporting packs for presentation to key stakeholders.

 

Summary of key responsibilities:

Key responsibilities will be:

  • Collaborate with the teams Commercial, Technology and Procurement to ensure technical accuracy and competency of suppliers tendering for work.
  • Obtain budgetary quotes to support Commercial activities.
  • Negotiate and award contracts in line with group processes for the Parts area.
  • Prepare and raise purchase orders and order schedules. Coordinate with colleagues from Logistic and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Contribute to savings and maintain reports and provide insight to variances.

 

Qualifications & Knowledge to succeed

  • Full qualification in business administration, procurement (CIPS), or similar relevant field with 3+ years’ experience in procurement, sourcing and contracting, preferably in power or engineering industries.
  • Proven negotiation skills with the ability to think commercially, operationally, and strategically.
  • Good understanding of supply contract legal terms and knowledge of export control.
  • Confident communicator with an engaging personality who also demonstrates experience in developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across all business units and external stakeholders.
  • Experienced in the Microsoft Office programs Excel, Power Point, and Power BI.
  • Experienced in and knowledge in ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 (or OHSAS 18001) is an advantage.
  • General knowledge and experience of power generation such as steam turbines, diesel engines and green energy is preferred.
  • Preferably, you are also an experienced user in ERP systems such as IFS and Novacura.
